Would you rather receive a beautiful bouquet of roses or a living rose bush you can plant and enjoy for years?
My husband, Brian, knows which one I would choose! He gave me a rose bush, and I love that it's a gift I can keep enjoying long after a bouquet of cut flowers would have faded.
It might not look picture-perfect every day, but that's part of having a real, living plant. I get to watch it grow, care for it, and enjoy the roses when it blooms.
And honestly, I love that so much more than having flowers that only last a little while.

Rose Bush or Bouquet? Here's My Choice!
Here's the rose bush Brian gave me. It isn't covered in beautiful blooms all the time, and that's okay with me!
Why I Prefer a Living Rose Bush Over Cut Flowers
Don't get me wrong — a bouquet of roses is beautiful. I can absolutely appreciate fresh flowers sitting on the table.
But there's something special about receiving a plant that keeps growing.
A bouquet is something you enjoy for a short time. A rose bush becomes part of your garden and gives you something to look forward to whenever it starts putting out new growth or flowers.
Every time I see mine, I'm reminded of the person who gave it to me.
A Rose Bush Doesn't Have to Be Blooming to Be Special
One thing I wanted to show in my video is that my rose bush isn't looking its prettiest right now.
It has times when it looks a little sad, and times when it looks much better. That's just part of caring for a living plant.
But I wouldn't trade it for a bouquet just because it isn't covered in roses today. The whole reason I love it is that it's still here!
There's always the possibility of more growth and more flowers to enjoy.
A Thoughtful Gift for Someone Who Loves Gardening
I think the best gifts are the ones that show someone really knows you.
Brian knows I enjoy having plants and working on our outdoor spaces, so a rose bush is exactly the kind of gift I appreciate.
If you have someone in your life who would rather receive a plant than cut flowers, a garden-themed gift might be right up their alley, too.

And if you're the one who prefers living plants, maybe send this post to someone who needs a little hint! 😉
