Having short-term rentals means there's almost always another refresh, repair or guest-requested improvement happening somewhere. Some are complete makeovers. Others start with one little thing and somehow turn into another project.
Behind Unlikely Flips
Hi, I'm Dana.
I'm a mom of seven, and I've been renovating, thrifting, reselling and dreaming up projects for years.
My husband is usually the one helping turn those ideas into something real, the kids get pulled into plenty of projects too, and somehow there's always another room, rental, thrift find or idea waiting for us.
Unlikely Flips is where I'm finally sharing all of it — the finished transformations, the things still in progress, the finds that surprised me and the projects that didn't go quite according to plan.
Built, Fixed & Figured Out Together
A lot of what we do eventually becomes a family project. Sometimes we're working together, and sometimes one of the kids is the one doing the building.
DIY Kids Picnic Table
One of our sons built a little picnic table for the girls — one of those projects that's even better because of the story behind it.

I told my husband I wanted a garden. He took the idea and turned it into an actual space for us.

I've been thrifting and reselling for years, and one of my favorite parts is finding something inexpensive that turns out to be worth much more than anyone expected.
Some finds make it into our home. Some get resold. Some probably should have stayed at the thrift store.

There's Always Something Going On
Sometimes I'm sharing a room transformation. Sometimes I'm push mowing, fixing something I broke, showing a thrift find or filming whatever Leia decided to get into that morning.
That's kind of the point of Unlikely Flips. It's not one perfectly finished house. It's what we're actually doing around here.
