Would you believe this bedroom started as part of an empty shed?
When we decided to turn a shed into a tiny home, we weren't working with an existing bedroom that just needed a little updating. We were starting with an unfinished space and turning it into an actual home.
That meant adding foam insulation, closing everything in, installing shiplap walls, painting, putting down flooring, and replacing the original shed windows.
Here's how the bedroom went from an empty shed to the finished space you see today!

From shed to bedroom.
This wasn't just a bedroom makeover. We had to create the bedroom itself!
The Tiny Home Bedroom Before: Just an Empty Shed
Looking at the before picture, it's hard to imagine this space as a bedroom.
There were no finished bedroom walls, no flooring like you see today, and none of the details that make it feel like a comfortable place to sleep.
It was simply part of the original shed we were converting into a tiny home.
One of the things I love about before-and-after pictures is that they remind me just how much work happened before the decorating could even begin.
In this case, we had to do the work that would make it a bedroom before we could make it look like one.
Insulating and Closing In the Shed
We added foam insulation as part of turning the original shed into a finished tiny home.
After that, we closed in the space so we could start creating the bedroom walls and move on to the visible parts of the renovation.
This stage doesn't always make for the most exciting finished-room pictures, but it's a big part of the difference between an unfinished shed and a room that feels like it belongs in a home.
Adding Shiplap Walls to the Tiny Home Bedroom
Once we were ready to work on the walls, we added shiplap.
I love how much a wall treatment can change the feel of a room, especially when you're starting with a space that wasn't originally built as a bedroom.
With the shiplap going up, it finally started looking less like the inside of a shed and more like the bedroom we had been picturing.
Seeing the walls take shape was one of those moments when the transformation started to feel real.
Replacing the Original Shed Windows
We also replaced the windows that came with the original shed.
That was another part of turning the building into a tiny home rather than leaving it feeling like a shed with furniture inside.
Between the new windows, finished walls, and the rest of the work, the bedroom began to feel like a completely different space.
Paint and New Flooring Made a Big Difference
After the structural and wall work, the paint and flooring helped bring the room together.
Flooring is one of those changes that makes a huge visual difference in a before-and-after, especially when you're comparing a finished bedroom with the original unfinished shed.
At this point, it was getting much easier to picture how the room would look once we brought in the furniture.
My favorite part of this kind of renovation?
Watching an ordinary, unfinished space slowly turn into a room that feels like it has always belonged there.
The Finished Tiny Home Bedroom
And here's how the bedroom turned out!
It's a small room, but we wanted it to feel comfortable and finished without trying to squeeze in more than the space needed.
Looking at it now, it's hard to believe this was once part of an empty shed.
Making the Tiny Home Bedroom Feel Comfortable
Once the walls, windows, paint and flooring were finished, we could finally start putting the bedroom together.
With a tiny home, I don't want to fill every available inch with furniture. I want the space to feel comfortable without making it difficult to move around.
We added side tables beside the bed to give guests a convenient place for their things without taking up too much room.
The king comforter set helped bring the sleeping area together and made the finished bedroom feel more inviting.
It's those finishing touches that make the room feel like somewhere you would actually want to stay, rather than just a bed inside a converted shed.
Lighting and Window Treatments for the Bedroom
Lighting and window treatments were another part of making the bedroom feel finished.
We chose ceiling fans for the tiny home and added curtains to the bedroom windows.
We also used lanterns as part of the finishing touches.
None of those details would have made much sense when the room was still an empty shed, but after all the renovation work, they helped bring the finished space together.
One More Bedroom Detail: Full-Length Mirrors
We kept working on the smaller details even after the main bedroom renovation was finished.
One of those was making sure guests had a full-length mirror. We eventually added two mirrors because one alone looked a little unbalanced on the wall.
You can see how that turned out in our tiny home bedroom mirror update.

The Bedroom Was Only One Part of Turning This Shed Into a Tiny Home
Of course, the bedroom wasn't the only area we had to create. We were turning the entire shed into a tiny home, so there were plenty of other spaces to work on, too.
The tiny home kitchen makeover is another before-and-after that shows just how much changed inside the original building.
And once we had the indoor spaces coming together, we continued working outside. You can see how we made the outdoor area more inviting in our tiny home outdoor makeover.
It's fun seeing the individual rooms, but I think the biggest transformation is realizing that all of them started as parts of the same shed.
Would you have seen the potential?
Could you have pictured this finished bedroom when it was still an empty shed?
